OPI’s collections seem to inspire my travel bug (which you can now read more about over on Flicks and Fancy Free). The first time I stepped foot into the Lena White offices a few years ago and was introduced to the Germany Collection, my flight of fancy has followed their nail leading trends. Starting with Berlin (Germany Collection), followed by a trip around Central Europe (Euro Centrale) including a visit to Amsterdam (Holland) and now we have the Nordic collection fitting since I have just returned from my trip to Denmark. I even rocked ‘Your Such a Budpest’ in the lacquer’s name sake, because you’ve just got to haven’t you?! So, I’m going to take a guess that a trip to San Francisco and Brazil I gather is definitely on the cards for 2015!
Anyway, way back in May, you avid Flicks and Red Lips readers may remember that I attended the Autumn Winter OPI collection launch? I can’t believe how quickly time flies because it’s now time for this gorgeous collection to launch on QVC! Yes, on 6th and 7th of August you’ll be treated to two opportunities to pick up this gorgeous collection, plus a secret special value kit to perfect your nails! (more on this later, so make sure you sign up to receive my posts as they publish!)
At the launch, held at St.Martin Hotel in London, OPI Artistic Director Suzi Weiss-Fischmann, introduced the collection through a stunning video, featuring ethereal looking goddesses, their long blonde locks pulled back into plaits and braids. Dressed in a palette of soft, earthy tones in sheer fabrics teamed with gun-metal ‘armour’, they provoked thoughts of Nordic Warrior Princesses, as they ran through dampened Greenland and deserted beaches. It was utterly breathtakingly beautiful.
The palette of colour used in the Nordic collection is inspired by nature and the visual surrounding of the Nordic region, including the famed Northern Lights (which I hope to visit this winter!) and the iconic pastel painted houses found at one of my favourite spots in Copenhagen, Denmark- Nyhavn.
My absolute favourites are the pastel tones, mint green ‘My Dogsled Is A Hybrid’, feminine pink ‘Suzi Has A Swede Tooth’ , the vivid coral ‘Can’t AfJord Not To’ and the deep indigo ‘Do You Have This Colour In Stock-Holm?’. These shades are perfect for Summer too, so make sure you grab these next week! I’ve been lucky enough to be wearing these shades for the past month or so, and every single client comments on how beautiful they are.
I know we are in the middle a lovely warm summer, but looking towards the colder winter months, we have a warming palette of spicy browns, rich wines and warm golds. The sparkly wine ‘Thank Glogg It’s Friday’ , deep burgundy ‘Skating On Thin Ice-Land and ‘dark plum ‘Viking In A Vonderland’ are to me, the perfect Christmas shades whether I’ll be prepared to wait that long, we will see!
