Back in 2006 I was lucky enough to study my craft at the prestigious School of Make-up in Manchester. But, many of you don’t know that before this, I also studied the VTCT Fashion & Photographic Make-up and Theatrical Media Make-up at my local college, Wirral Metropolitan. Those of you who have followed Flicks and Red Lips since day one, will know I actually taught the fashion make-up students at this particular college last academic year. And what a wonderful, rewarding experience it was!
After a year of stress, very few days off and drowning under 32 students homework, I decided to call it a day, and focus on teaching on a more practical level at So Coco Rouge. Thus, leading to two workshops we launched this Summer.
Coco’s Cosmetic Camp, for absolute beginners and Cocos’s Finishing School, an advanced course for those already qualified.
The beginners course is perfect for those looking for a taste of the make-up industry, with a view to studying further and gaining a qualification. This course covers the all important topics of hygiene, professionalism, basic skin care, skin types and face shapes, plus make-up application techniques suitable for day, evening and bridal looks.
Whilst the latter was created for newly qualified artists who need help executing their skills in the working world. This week featured basic SFX applications, hair up techniques, airbrush make-up for HD plus working on your current skills for photographic make-up.
I had the pleasure of teaching 11 wonderful students over two weeks, and it was so inspiring to see their skills grow and improve day by day. I cannot wait to see what the future has in store for these talented artists!
