And the bride wore pink

Love is most certainly in the air in my world right now!

Which brings me to my apologies of my blog tardiness of late. It seems my head has been too full of love hearts, and my belly too full of butterflies to put pen to paper (or so to speak….) Yes, there is finally a man worth ruining my red lips for. And one that wouldn’t ruin my flicks with tears more importantly. So, I’m currently living in a bubble of happiness, which is often travelling up and down the M62. Quite handy that said boyfriend lives in my second favourite city isn’t it!

Anyway, back to today’s real topic- yet another of my best friends walked down the aisle to marry her prince last week. And she did so in style- rocking a blush pink Vera Wang, a pair of quirky Vivienne Westwood shoes and a glamorous headpiece from Rocks for Frocks. This is one bride who was always going to make a statement!

The new Mrs Dunbar, is in fact my beautiful business partner and co-owner of So Coco Rouge, Robyn. And I’m very proud to say i wasn’t just her make-up artist, I was one of her bridesmaids too.

When you are wearing a statement dress, such as a blush pink shade, it’s important to think about the tones in your make-up. Usually, when working with a bride I would consider the tones in the flowers, grooms suits and bridesmaid dresses, but for Robyn’s look, it was even more important her make-up complemented her dress.

As the wedding was a black tie affair, with bridesmaids in black evening gowns and groomsmen in dinner jackets, we decided to create a dramatic smokey eye, with a glowing complexion and a muted lip.

I personally like to work with as many products as possible, and used a variety of eye shadows to create Robyn’s look. However, it was MAC pigment in Deep Purple, that created the smokey depth but soft purple hue I wanted in Robyn’s eye make-up. Combined with MAC pigments Vanilla, Naked and Dark Naked and a base of Illamasqua vintage Metallix in Courtier, her eyes were finished with a full set of individual lashes.

With a team of 8 bridesmaids, each sporting a soft, sultry eye and deep red lip, this wedding screamed Hollywood glamour.
