After the months and months of the unknown, I can imagine many of you are feeling just like me. Excited for what summer fun is just around the corner! And a day of family fun at Chester Racecourse with Parentfolk sounds like the ultimate 2021 pick me up!
The Parade for the Polo picnic
I’m feeling pretty blessed right now. We’ve spent the day at Chester Racecourse with the team from Parentfolk, sampling a taster of their Parentfolk and family at the Polo event.
It’s the first event I’ve attended post lockdown (heck it’s the most people I’ve seen at one time in over a year!) but I couldn’t of felt more welcomed. Nic and team from Parentfolk and Sam from Chester Racecourse, went above and beyond to make this gathering super special, upbeat yet still relaxing. A hard feat with a whirlwind two year old, let me tell you!
Which I think gives us all a pretty good insight into how filled with family fun their July event will be. The ultimate weekend to make up for those memories lost.
Keeping kids engaged and entertained
The great thing about Parentfolk events, is that they really work hard to keep the kids engaged, entertained and damn right happy, whilst also catering from the grown ups. These aren’t your typical ‘parent events’. These are events with decent tunes, independent stalls and delicious food. Think Cheshire’s version of Kendal Calling festival, without having to camp out in the mud, if you catch my drift.
The Parade for the Polo event was no different. I found myself in the Pinterest vision Parade, glass of fizz in one hand and a Ginger Floral Design arrangement in the other. Whilst Ace found his happy place with Rock Away Toys and Paper Town Crafts, having the time of his LIFE. If this is a taster of the Polo event, I can’t even begin to imagine what’s in store!
Family fun at Chester Racecourse with Parentfolk at the Polo
The Polo weekend is the event of the year at Chester Racecourse. So it’s pretty silly that before Parentfolk introduced me to it, I didn’t know I could attend a Polo match so close to home.
But I think a huge part of that, is the image that’s associated with Polo. I’d instantly think high society, pricey champagne and well, Royalty (or Made in Chelsea at the very least!) The mere thought of taking a child to such an event wouldn’t even cross my mind.
But I’m glad to say that this impression is wrong. The weekend, when the White Oak Polo Series returns to Chester Racecourse, is set to be carefree, thrilling and one with memories to cherish.
Chukkas and cheering
Don’t worry I had zero clue what a chukka was until today. (I *think* it means a period of play, and there is around 6 in every game?! Don’t quote me though, even Alexa wasn’t sure!)
But in-between chukkas is the bit I want to tell you about! The treading of the divots! Here guests are invited onto the course to stomp down the turf. There is even a silver cork to find, the lucky owner winning a prize!
It sounds like a great way to get everyone, young and old, involved in the Polo! Oh and lots of cheering the ponies and players along the way!
A day of family fun with Parentfolk at the Polo, Chester Racecourse
The White Oak Polo series returns to Chester Racecourse on Friday 2nd July, with the family fun Parentfolk at the Polo event on Saturday 3rd July.
It’s set to be a brilliant family day of Polo, with kids engaged and entertained with creative pop ups and fun shenanigans between chukkas!
